Twas a great weekend for outdoor activities! After the Hood Canal 200k (or in my case the 100k) on Saturday I was not up for anything strenuous on Sunday but I wanted to get out and do something so I suggested a short hike.
Over the last year or so I have collected various "short hikes around Seattle" type books and after dragging them out and looking through them settled on a 3+ mile easy hike by Tiger mountain. The hike was Hike 8: "Talus Rocks" in the book "Beyond Mount Si" by John Zilly. We drove up to the turn off and as predicted by the book we had to park down the road from the trailhead. That was no problem at all as the walk up was quite pleasant except for the rushing river freeway noise! At the trailhead we visited the facilities and perused the maps. There is a maze of trails leading off from there and of course we decided - well mostly my significant other decided that a different and shorter and flatter route was called for.
No problem as far as I was concerned since my feet where not to happy from the ride the day before.
We had a very pleasant ramble around the lake and a short jaunt down towards the swamp trail which lead us too near the freeway noise as far as I was concerned. I will definitely head back up there for more rambling.
